Fear impacts both followers of Jesus and those who don't yet know Him. If you find yourself paralyzed by fear then read on! This is the first Blog in a new series called “Breaking the Chains” aimed at freeing us from issues that hold us back from living fully in Christ. Today’s focus is on breaking the chain of fear.
To break free from fear, we need God’s help. Trusting in His perfect love, focusing on His presence, praying earnestly, and relying on the Holy Spirit’s power are essential steps. For followers of Jesus, fear often indicates a need to deepen our trust in Jesus. 1 John 4:18 tells us that perfect love casts out fear. When we understand God’s love, our future is secure, and our present is guarded by the Holy Spirit.
Our focus matters greatly. Hebrews 13:6 and Psalm 23:4 remind us that with God as our helper, we need not fear. Shifting our focus from our problems to God’s greatness changes everything. In prayer, we find the peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:6-7). God listens, even when our words fail, and the Holy Spirit intercedes for us (Romans 8:26).
Finally, the power of the Holy Spirit enables us to soar above our fears. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that the Spirit gives us power, love, and self-discipline—everything we need to overcome fear. With God’s help, we can break free from fear and live fully in His peace.
